iOS 5.1.1 out; contains security fixes

Apple has released iOS 5.1.1 to its Apple users.

Connect to your PC/MAC or go into settings –> General —> Software update.

It contains the following fixes;

• Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
• Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
• Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
• Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
• Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase

Google Launches Google Drive

Well it seems its been year(s) in the making. Google has finally launched Google drive.

Basically Google drive is a competitor  of Dropbox and Skydrive.

One of them is flashback aka flash fake malware that is currently hitting macs at an alarming rate. So far 600,000 macs have been detected as infected by the fake flash codec trojan.

Pothole Season app perfect for this years pothole season

Potholes we are the unfortunate things that show up when the snow melts. Well this year there is a high tech way to take it on, in Canada.

Its a free app called pothole season. And it’s pretty cool. You either walk around or drive along and your iPhone/iPads accelerometer/gps picks up the potholes. You can then use the app to report it to your city/county. That’s pretty neat.

Hopefully lots of people use the app to tackle the potholes.

We have all had a time where we have seen an ad that has been suspicious. Or malicious.

Well Google is taking note. A video has also been released showing how Google is going to monitor its ad network.

Why upgrading to LTE is important for carriers and consumers

The great migration has begun. It began in late 2010, when two US wireless carriers, Verizon and MetroPCS, launched LTE networks. In the year that followed both companies expanded. Essentially everyone else has followed suit. Bell, Rogers, and Telus now have 4G LTE networks that will continue to expand until they cover most of the country. Soon enough, these carriers will cease offering their 3G products (and even their 2G products), instead featuring a full array of 4G devices. And everyone will benefit.

While 4G LTE services are heralded for their lightning fast speeds, there’s more to it than that. Yes, speed is an LTE network’s primary virtue, but it’s not all about how fast you can buffer a streaming movie. No, speed in this instance leads to something greater.
