Technology is always changing, always advancing. Well it’s doing it again. 3G isn’t bleeding edge anymore its old.
Telus like other carriers in Canada (Bell, Rogers) are slowly rolling out their own 4G LTE networks.
Vancouver, B.C. – TELUS today announced that its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless service will be available on Friday, February 10. Initial launch metropolitan areas include Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, Kitchener, Waterloo, Hamilton, Guelph, Belleville, Ottawa, Montreal, Québec City, Halifax and Yellowknife. TELUS plans to continue rolling out its 4G LTE coverage to more regions across Canada to reach more than 25 million Canadians by the end of 2012.
4G LTE is the future for cell phones. As such not very many devices support 4G LTE. The iPhone 4s, blackberrys, and most Android phones don’t yet support it.
But phones will eventually support it allowing faster internet speeds on your phone/tablet/laptop etc.
So glad it’s coming to Edmonton, it’s very needed there.
