Sadly the CRTC is failing Canada. Its going to approve UBB or usage based billing. It basically means you pay for how much of the internet you use. Seems fair right? Well wrong.
CRTC has approved company’s to charge “overage” fees from $1-2 per GB. That basically means if you use alot of YouTube, Netflix or etc it will seriously start costing you.
No longer do you get unlimited. Now that $5 movie maybe be an additional $5-20 depending on how big the download is (4-16GB each). Netflix is only $10/m but with metered internet each show or movie maybe like I said before $5-20 each.
This basically means large companys like Shaw and Bell (who asked for UBB) to make insane an amount of cash out of you. How much does it cost Bell currently per gigabyte to deliver traffic? $0.001/GB. So basically nothing. While 50GB is only 5 cents (!) to them it’s almost $50-150 that comes out of you. This basically means huge profits.
So you say but I get a 250GB data cap per month. Right? Wrong. Bell just changed their data caps to an insanely small 25GB per month. or 10% of what is use to be.
These costs seem like your mobile phone almost.
What can you do to stop this? Sign the petition at stopthemeter.ca I and almost 200,000 people have. Your voice matters!

You failed to mention in your post that the Canadian Federal Government would say “No” to that happening so why worry?
Happened after I made the post.
