Tomorrow is the large Apple event for iPhone OS 4.0. I have created a wish-list of things I want to see.
- Multitasking. Multitasking would be nice on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad but its been one everyone’s wish-list for years now so I am not to hopeful. Would be nice though if you could have at least 2 apps open.
- Custom Theme. The iPad supports a custom background so why can’t the iPhone? Also Apple are you really that controlling as to not allow a different theme?
- Download manager. If I want to download a .PDF or other file can I please have a folder so I can retrieve it without emailing it?
- Disk support. iPods can be used as hard drives if you enable the feature. There is no feature with the iPhone OS…why not? Does Apple want to seriously lockout users (Linux) like that?
- A real iTunes app. Hey Apple nice to have an iTunes app on the iPhone…but I can’t view the rented movies select at all! I don’t want to buy movies I like to rent, so can I please see them?
- Automatic podcast downloader. I’ve wanted this for ages. Can I please have an automatic podcast downloader? That way I can free my iPod touch from iTunes.
I naturally will see none of those in iPhone OS tommorrow…it’s just not how Apple swings. Who knows though Apple could surprise us all.
I think you have to include also the support for direct printing in iPad, iPod, and of course the iPhone.
