These numbers are disappointing but Apple is officially reporting that it sold over 300,000 iPads so far. While the numbers are half of what we’re initially predicted they are pretty high. Considering its only U.S. sales the numbers could be higher by May.
“It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world—it’s going to be a game changer,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad.”
1 million apps, and over 250,000 ibooks where also sold which means it has quite the success. If you have an iPad or iPhone/iPod touch you should download and play we rule. The games addicting and has been optimized for both devices.

Disappointing? I wouldn’t say that. The first iPhone took 74 days to sell one million. Also, I’m unsure if it’s even possible to buy the iPad at this time. I read people couldn’t get one from Best Buy as it was sold out everywhere. If that’s the case for Apple Stores too, then it’s simply not possible to sell more than 300k units, if no more are available
I think we’ll see a few million units sold in 2010.

The hardware design is appealing, but since it cannot run Windows software, is has no value to me personally. But I’m glad Apple released its iPad, because it may inspire tablet PC makers to create better units, too. Let’s hope.

HP had tried with the HP Slate but personally I find it to just be a small netbook running Windows 7 rather then a dedicated enviroment like the iPad.
