Psystar Goes Back To Selling Mac PC’s

December 29th, 2009

Looks like Psystar just can’t resist the urge to sell macs to users.

Even after a court ruling to stop the illegal porting of Mac OS X to PC’s, looks like they are back at it.

But wait! This time its different!

Even though they said they would shut down and let go of all its employees…there back.

This time its 100% legal (they promise).

Instead of selling T-Shirts…they will be selling Linux PC’s.

The users will buy a legal copy of Mac OS X and install it on the Linux machine…with there software crack Rebel EFI utility.

So technically any lawsuit would go after the users, and not Psystar.

Naturally this is still not even close to legal because Apple forbids the sale of machines that do not have the official Apple logo on them.

And no the Apple sticker that came with your new iPod Touch doesn’t count.

So looks like Apple will have to go with another legal fight with the company that just will not die because going against the law is the name of the game.

Digg Seeing The Same Faith as Twitter?

December 28th, 2009

Bad news…looks like digg’s traffic is down for the 3rd month in the row.

Now Digg’s traffic volume is half of Twitter.

So is Digg going down faster than Twitter?

twitter digg down in traffic Digg Seeing The Same Faith as Twitter?

Both going down.

Seems like everyone’s headed for Facebook.

While Digg and Twitter are down they can both easily recover in the following months.

So best of 2010 for the best of them.

Windows 7 Going Over Well With IT Community

December 28th, 2009

Looks like Microsoft didn’t pull another Vista.

While IT managers where at first extremely weary of Windows 7 due to the train wreak of Vista, looks like approval for the OS is up.

So much so they are even spending more on the OS.

“About one in five of those surveyed said that Windows 7 has caused their firm to upgrade their PCs faster than they normally would. And while just 3 percent said the new OS caused “significant acceleration” of upgrade plans, 16 percent said Windows 7 led to either “modest acceleration” or “slight acceleration.” -Maximum PC

So looks like XP will die eventually!

Sooner the better that we get the image of vista from our minds.

App Store Sees Huge Holiday Download Boost

December 28th, 2009

Good news to all iPhone app developers!

If you got an app selling in the app store…downloads are up 1000%.

With app purchases up (and users) this could mean a very good boost to the app store.

I am sure the downloads are well over 3 billion…as well 1000% is 100x more downloads in 1 day.

Congrats everyone who got a iPod Touch (like me!) or iPhone this Christmas seems everyone did.

AT&T Pulls iPhone From Online New Yorkers

December 27th, 2009

For reasons largely unknown you can no longer get a iPhone from AT&T.

Tech Crunch reports it’s still available to purchase in store.

Tech Crunch, Engadget, and other technology sites noticed that if you enter your zipcode at AT&T and try to get the iPhone you would get the error message of: “Sorry this package is not available in your area.”

This could either because AT&T can’t handle iPhone users on their network, or because they realize it doesn’t work very well in New York.

So is this a sign to come because AT&T is close to end of its contract with Apple or is it because of credit card fraud?

Naturally you will know if the story changes.

Edit: iPhone sales back online.

Comcast Hands Out $16 To Users After Lawsuit

December 26th, 2009

After Comcast had a $16 million lawsuit in it’s hands its ready to say sorry…with a $16 check.

Comcast was recently found to deliberately slow P2P (bit torrent) traffic.

After they said they weren’t they where in court being found guilty.

Packet shaping isn’t new though.

Many ISP’s do it to save there network from being flooding.

The HTTP (web) traffic like loading blogs is passed though first, then the traffic hogging packets like YouTube and Bittorrent.

So do you link Comcast deserved this or should the throttling of P2P be done because of its high amount of illegal usage?

Apple Ready To Announce The iSlate In January?

December 26th, 2009

Well those crazy iTablet/iSlate rumors are out and about again.

Tech Crunch – Wonder Of Apple Tablet.

Tech Crunch – Looking into iSlate trademark.

500x apple tablet natgeo 400x266 Apple Ready To Announce The iSlate In January?

The iSlate or just another iRumor?

Apple has said that its preparing a “Huge product announcement” January 27th 2009.

Naturally the tech world thinks it’s the iSlate since well rumors don’t die.

While its been 3 years since Apple has owned islate.com there hasn’t been much progress.

Mine while islate.ca, islate.jp, and islate.cn (and all the others) are taken by Mark Monitor (parked domains).

So will we see a iSlate or something else?

Yahoo looking into discontinuing MyBlogLog?

December 26th, 2009

Recent reports show that Yahoo is uncertain about MyBlogLog’s future.

So uncertain is looking at closing it in January of 2010.

MyBlogLog is a free service from Yahoo! that is very similar to blogcatalog.

Rant: Youtube/Music Industry You Need To Change

December 25th, 2009

Yes I know I was supposed to not blog until the 2nd of January but I have a good reason to blog during the holidays!
My rant is related to 3 things: ipod Touch/iPhone/Youtube/Music Industry.

Why?

Because you cannot (at all) view any music videos that have advertisements in them.

You cannot play them or even find them on the device.

Doesn’t matter if you search in the built-in client or at youtube.com its the same videos like: Lady Gaga Bad Romance, Draft Punk: Around The World etc do not appear on the device.

The unofficial videos do appear but the official music videos are nowhere to be seen.

And yes I have photos as proof:

youtube video ad appearance Rant: Youtube/Music Industry You Need To Change

Video seen on my laptop.

ipod touch no ad video appearance e1261796567533 Rant: Youtube/Music Industry You Need To Change

Huh? First video gone on iPod Touch

I thought OK, I’ll copy/paste the video and sees what happens.

video not advailable to mobile devices Rant: Youtube/Music Industry You Need To Change

Cute (sarcastic): Youtube does not allow official videos on mobile devices.

I do not know if this is because Youtube is unable to display videos on the device because there are no advertisements, or because they are not allowed to for another reason.

YouTube is owned by Google who owns AdMob so they would be able to display an advertisement on the device so it must be for another reason.

So Youtube/Apple at least tell me that I am unable to view the video because I  can’t instead of not even offering it to me.

Or better yet allow the video to play with the advertisements.

/end of long rant.
