Panda Cloud Antivirus Emerges From Beta
November 10, 2009 6 Comments
Today is a good day.
As panda cloud antivirus is now out of beta.
Panda Cloud Antivirus is an antivirus that doesn’t rely on signatures but rather a vast collection good and bad files “in the could”.
This means detection for new threats could beĀ as early as 6 mins from the first infection.
It does cache files for offline use but its meant to be online 24/7 since it has no real signature database.
So really this is a solid free protection against emerging social malware.
I have reviewed the software here.
So download it, and watch the video! Here.

I tried it a day and it really slowed down the loading of Firefox and “stumbling”. Went back to AVG and speed is back up. It took over a minute just to initialize Firefox with Panda. Needs work!
Actually that’s not a bug. Since its based off the cloud it does a background scan. As such it slows you down until its caches the good and the bads. Personally go out and get Microsoft Security Essentials. Its much better then the nagware AVG. (In speed, AND detections).
I haven’t heard of the Cloud version of Panda but have to agree the Microsoft Free offering is very good. I have dropped using the free AntiVir for it.

The cloud version is new this year so its not well known. And yes MSE is pretty darn good.
