Is Adobe Air 2.0 The End Of The Memory/CPU Hog?

November 1st, 2009 by dreamsburnred Leave a reply »

We all know that Adobe Air is a memory/cpu hog, as most users can recall tweetdeck which runs on adobe air.

Thing could very well change soon though.

With Adobe Air 2.0 on the horizon it is gaining popularity with developers because of its substantially decreased memory usage, and decreased cpu usage while idle.

If Adobe Air 2.0 can deliver on the promise of light-weight memory usage, its usage as a platform could very well skyrocket.

Changes also include; multi-touch support, gestures, open files with default application, OS download security dialog, IPv6, accessibility, improved printing, webkit upgrades, and much more.

Hopefully this will be true as then tweetdeck on a netbook would be possible.

Beta is expected to arrive later this year, and release by the first half of 2010.

  1. Adobe Air looks pretty promising. Let’s see what happens when it’s widely released.

adobe air is very popular and is being used in few application(tweetdeck).
i always felt adobe has been underestimated if compared to G and M

@gabe its already widely used with tweetdeck, aol, purolator, etc. The only problem is that it consumes to many resources currently for more developers to take hold of the platform.

And its limitless air has access to flash, and shockwave, browsers, and graphics so it could be a very solid widget foundation.
