First I thought it was just a AT&T+Apple Vs Google he said she said thing but I am wrong. Why?
All because since the FCC is now evolved Google is now in not water — not apple, or AT&T after all.
Sure your thinking Google Voice is merely a application which allows you to connect your phones together with no issues right? Wrong.
There is one major difference: how rural calls are handled.
This is why Google is being probed by the FCC.
As after all this is a serious matter.
Rural phone company’s like to charge large rates on phone calls so they can earn dollars. Since Google Voice blocks these transactions (via the internet, or otherwise) they don’t get paid.
Sure Vonage/Skype get away with this as they are not tied with the phone lines, and when they are they have you pay for it. Not Google Voice.
As such the phone call either to your cell/office phone is cheaper to Google, so as a result the rural company’s are left empty handed.
So really, the issue over the app continues to grow and naturally will not stop any time soon.
All I can say is strap in for the fun.
